Gene Therapy Start-Up Automation Engineering Intern

This is a brief overview of the projects I completed as an intern with Eli Lilly, working with an internal consulting team on the start-up of a new advanced therapies site in Lebanon, Indiana. Due to confidentiality agreements, I am unable to share proprietary images or detailed schematics from my work. The descriptions provided focus on my contributions, skills, and impact in a general and non-sensitive manner.

Hardware

Designed and implemented custom hardware and mounting solutions to improve efficiency and reliability at a new manufacturing site, including adapter cards for PLC/HMI integration and brackets for signage and RFID scanners.

Interface Adapter CCA

I designed, procured, and assembled adapter cards for implementation with a PLC (programmable logic controller) HMI (human machine interface) screen at the new site. This card was intended to make installation more efficient and reliable. It reduced installation time significantly, simplified wiring, and made connections more reliable and robust.

Custom Brackets

I designed two custom brackets in Onshape for implementation on the site. One of these brackets will allow for easy installation of signs and labels by doors on the site, and the other will hold an RFID scanner.

Software

As part of an automation start-up team, I configured and deployed automated manufacturing equipment by assigning static IP addresses, establishing network connectivity, and performing on-site installation and validation. I also worked on data storage and visualization solutions for the site.

Start-Up Data Storage and Visualization

I developed a temporary data storage and visualization solution using InfluxDB and Grafana, which I used Docker to deploy on a virutal machine.
